Iraq's Yazidis shelter from jihadists in holy temple
Just as Mecca is the most holy site in Islam, Lalish is a place of pilgrimage for all Yazidi people, wherever they may be in the world.
Dating back 4,000 years, the religion is known for its stone shrines and temples - many of which are hidden in Lalish's alleyways.
It is to this Iraqi village, which all Yazidis must visit at least once in their lives, that many thousands have fled as they try to escape the brutality of militants who have chased them from their homes.
